Words of Wisdom

My favourite quote by Albert Einstein goes something like this:

There are only to infinites, the Universe and human stupidity,

And I’m not sure about the universe.

The longer I live in this funny old world the more I tend to agree with Albert.

  1. What happened to the bright light that was once American democracy, what went wrong? The US now has a government whose elected representatives are owned by large corporations. The corporations provide the cash for the election campaigns to those who will best suite their needs; you don't kiss the corporate sector ass you don't get the funds to run for office.

The parliamentary system is just as bad in Canada and the UK. Every few years a party gains a majority of the seats in Parliament, whereupon the leader of that party becomes the Prime Minister, i.e. the leader. This individual then rules with virtually undisputed power, to the point that when proposed legislation comes to a vote no one in the party in power dares to vote against the party. To do so is the end of one’s career in the government. Every four or five years, if a party wins a majority of seats, a dictatorship results.

Unfortunately, as Winston Churchill said, “Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all of the others.

  2. One wonders why the United States government, in addition to providing Israel with nuclear weapons, around eight million dollars a day in aid and supporting the Israeli refusal to abide by International Law and UN Resolutions invariably winds turning a blind eye even when Israel insists in poking a stick in it. Are the Zionists so powerful that the American President and US politicians have to keep endlessly kissing their butts
